Trump privately approved plans for an assault on Iran
According to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, which cited three people familiar with the discussions, US President Donald Trump informed senior officials late on Tuesday that he had approved plans for an attack on Iran but had not issued a formal order to see whether Tehran would give up its nuclear program.
President Donald Trump kept the world wondering if the US will assist Israel in airstrikes aimed at destroying Tehran’s nuclear facilities on Thursday when Israel hit a crucial Iranian nuclear complex and Iranian missiles damaged an Israeli hospital.
According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Tehran’s “tyrants” would pay the “full price” if Israel continues its largest-ever attack on Iran until his arch-enemy’s nuclear program is eliminated.
Israel Katz, his defence minister, stated that in order to neutralise the “Ayatollah regime” and end the threat to Israel, the military has been directed to increase strikes on critical sites in Tehran.
Netanyahu has stated that Israel will take all necessary steps to eliminate Tehran’s “existential threat” and that Israeli military actions may overthrow the Iranian government.
Iranian retaliation strikes have killed at least two dozen Israeli civilians, while Israeli air and missile strikes against its main competitor have destroyed the upper echelon of Iran’s military command, damaged its nuclear capabilities, and killed hundreds of people.
The Israeli military claimed to have targeted a partially constructed heavy-water research reactor as well as the Khondab nuclear reactor in the Iranian capital of Arak overnight.
